This is not just a trip or a vacation. It is truly an adventure through the geology, history, art and literature of China. It is designed as a complete mind and body experience beginning with lectures and directed readings and continuing with discussions throughout.

Required Pre-trip Briefings
All new group members must attend the three pre-trip meetings. The meetings will in Aptos, California on the following Sunday afternoons:
#1 - Sunday, June 8, 3:00 to 6:00 PM
#2 - Sunday, July 20, 3:00 to 6:00 PM
#3 - Sunday, August 17, 3:00 to 6:00 PM

Beijing (5 nights) - includes day-trip visit to Tangshan
Xi'an (3 nights)
Dazu Buddhist Grottoes (2 nights)
Yangzi River - Chongqing to Wuhan (4 nights)
Wuhan (1 night)
Enshi City and the Mountains of Western Hubei (2 nights)
Shanghai (4 nights) - includes day-trip visit to Suzhou

Price
$4,887 per person, double occupancy
Single supplement is $1,198.

Final Payment
Final payment for the trip will be due no later than July 15, 2003.

A Note About the Price
We have put together the most all-inclusive package possible. We dislike the usual "nickel and dimeing" that so often happens on tours. Notice in the following list, for example, that we have included all tips. Tips are one of the most awkward and unpleasant parts of any traveling experience, and we will take care of it all for you. No hat-passing or last minute collections. Almost all meals are included in this trip as well.

Included:
Roundtrip airfare from San Francisco to China on an IATA Carrier, Coach Class ticket good for 90 days.
All airfares within China including all airport and exit fees.
All arrival and departure transfers, baggage handling and tips to porters.
First Class & Deluxe hotel accommodations based on double occupancy.
Single rooms available at a supplement of $1,198.
Deluxe cruise accommodations aboard the MV Regal Cruises, river view cabins based on double occupancy. Single cabins are not available on the ship.
All shore excursions from the ship including tips to the crew.
Almost all meals except several on free days.
Comprehensive sightseeing with English speaking National/local guides.
China visa handling services, EXCLUDING the $75/visa fee.
Three pre-trip instruction sessions, including language, history, geology and Chinese culture.
Instructional materials including a selection of books and tapes.
Personally escorted by Sandy Lydon and Gary Griggs with instruction and discussion throughout the trip.

NOT INCLUDED
Items of a personal nature, optional sightseeing, telephone, fax, computer charges,
room service, laundry, shopping, etc.
Single supplement of $1,198.00, whether by choice or circumstance of the group's final number.
Passport and visa fees. Currently the Chinese visa fee is $75.00 per person.
Optional Cancellation, Accident, Medical and Baggage Insurance. Information about this insurance will be provided.
3% handling fee for credit card transactions now imposed by suppliers.
Transportation from home to airport and return.

Group Size
The group will be limited to a maximum of forty five members.

Age limitations
Because of the adult nature of the activities, we do not permit persons under the age of 21 to join the group.

Member approval
All applications will be reviewed by the tour leaders to ensure that the group is composed of appropriately motivated members.
